I’m Ian Slinger; the one in Victoria, Australia. That’s probably all you need to know. If you’re one of my friends or family you already know the rest. If you’re not, you’ll be able to figure out my interests from the blog.
What’s With the Stupid Blog Title?
I had to settle on a title for the blog so I could get on with writing stuff. The criteria were:
- It had to be easy to get a domain that wasn’t already taken.
This can be a royal pain in the arse. No matter how clever you think you are, someone else was clever first. - The title shouldn’t attempt to describe the content.
I don’t want to limit what I can write about by having a rigid theme, and if I call it something like “The Linux Blog” I’ll disappoint visitors if I write about atheism. - It should pretty much corner the market on search results related to alien life forms with pernicious blood disorders.
Well… actually that was a fairly low priority.
So, I chose a random adjective and a noun.
Janine says it sounds pretentious (actually I think she said “wanky”). She’s probably right.
